This exhibition is a record of a time I spent in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, based between the Karoo town of Graaff-Reinet and our family home on the Swartkops River. I tip my cap to occasional jaunts to the Western Cape and Free State, but this is mostly about a love affair with the Karoo, the great interior thirstland. These are personal interpretations - a few places, like Table Mountain in the Western Cape, are well known to the point of being iconic, but most are anonymous, by-the-way scenes that for some reason, at that instant, seemed to encapsulate something beyond themselves.
